Answers
1)  Q How do I get started to become a Partner In Education with the Agua Fria Union High School District?
A
It’s easy to become a “Partner In Education.” Decide what amount you would like to contribute and receive a tax credit. Make a choice of what school you would like your contribution to benefit. Fill out the form in this brochure. Choose your payment option of check or money order. Cash and credit cards will be accepted at the bookstores at each school. Submit the completed form and your contribution by mail or drop-off at the bookstore at one of our four high schools prior to the Winter Break. A receipt will be mailed to you for your use when filing your taxes.
2)  Q Is there a limit on the amount a person can contribute?
A
Taxpayers filing single or married separately are limited to a yearly contribution of $200.00. Persons filing married jointly can contribute up to $400.00.
3)  Q Who is eligible?
A
The tax credit is available to all the residents of Arizona who pay taxes. You do not have to live in the school district that you wish to contribute to and you do not have to have children in school.
4)  Q Why should I give and where does my money go?
A
Essentially, tax credit donations keep money in our schools giving taxpayers a choice to directly support their local schools. These funds make it possible for a wide variety of learning opportunities and extra-curricular activities. Many school districts are facing limited funding for the optional, non-credit educational or extra-curricular activities that work hand-in-hand with the educational programs.
5)  Q Does my contribution have to be the full amount?
A
Any amount is greatly appreciated. Whether it is $10, $50, or $100, all contributions make a huge difference for the students in the district. Whatever amount you contribute is the amount you can take as a tax credit.
6)  Q Is it possible to “double” my contribution?
A
Maybe. Many employers in the Valley match their employee’s charitable contributions dollar-for-dollar! Check with your employer to see if they have a charitable donation matching funds program.
7)  Q What is the Arizona State Tax Credit for schools?
A
Arizona law (ARS 43-1089.01) gives taxpayers the right to make contributions to the public school of their choice and then take the full contribution as a tax credit on their state taxes. It reduces your tax liability by the amount you donate.
