The AFUHSD gifted program is a student-centered program focusing on the academic, intellectual, social, career, and cultural development of each student. We use a multitude of criteria to aid in identifying student strengths and weaknesses. We strive to help our students better develop themselves in a broad range of areas in preparation for college and his/her area of greatest interest and to further help him/her build upon it.

Using cirricular and enrichment options, we tailor our service to each student's needs. Instruction for gifted students in the AFHSD will be differentiated in process, content, and product as well as opportunities for accelerated pacing and pedagogy that supports and ameliorates the learning for the gifted student. Gifted students will participate in project-based learning, problem-based learning, authentic performance tasks, role play and mock trials all of which help to build the real-world applications and connections.

We also support both a gifted student and gifted family network by providing on-line newsletters, educational information, activities and events to help both the student and his/her family.
