 PROGRAM HISTORY

The Agua Fria Union High School District's Summer Success has evolved over the past several years into a a 19-day program providing intensive education in reading and math as well as an introduction into high school for all incoming freshmen students.

With sessions origionally held at each of our individual campuses, in 2007 the program was expanded to encompass all four high schools at one location. The 2010 program is being held at the Agua Fria High School campus for the second consecutive year. Once again, the program is partnering with Teach For America.  This partnership provides additional teachers in the classroom, allowing one teacher for every four students.

The curriculum used in the Summer Success program has been approved by the district Director of Curriculum and Instruction and, depending on reading comprehension levels includes utilizing the Read 180 program, FASTT Math basics and refresher courses for those students who need to catch up and be ready for high school classes. For those students who are on track to enter high school, the summer program offers challenging courses to stretch and increase knowledge providing those students with a definate academic advantage over those students who do not attend.
