English IV Dear Parents, I am excited to have your son / daughter in my English IV class. With British Literature and the history thereof as the backbone of this semester's literary content, students will practice and hone their skills in analytical writing and thinking. At the end of the semester, students will be prepared to tackle the college and career level workload they will soon be immersing themselves in. Although British Literature is a topic of which we will discuss, it is the skills of analytical thinking, reading, and assessment that will prove most valuable to the students in their coming years of adulthood. Homework is determined by the student. All due dates of all assignments are already established. Throughout the semester it is simply the student's job to adhere to these due dates by any means necessary. Occasionally, work time will be offered in class. Born in New Jersey, I actually went to high school in the small upstate New York town of Oswego. After graduating, I remained in Oswego to attend the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego where I received my double-major degree for English & Secondary Education. I have taught in a variety of private settings, including for the developmentally & mentally disabled, but officially started my public school teaching career in 2006 as an Eleventh Grade English teacher at Cactus Shadows High School, where I stayed for two years before joining the dynamic 7A team at the Wigwam Creek Middle School. The high school experience kept calling to me, and in 2009, I became an Owl. Sincerely, |
