MLA STYLE
All written assignments are to be submitted typed.  There are no exceptions.  If a student does not have access to a computer at home, s/he is always more than welcome to use the numerous computers we have here at school.  Such practice is expected in college, and there's no reason to hinder students from being prepared.  As such, all typed documents must conform to the Modern Language Association (MLA) style standards. Below are the basics of MLA style that must be followed at all times.  For additional student convenience, a full MLA Essay template can be downloaded from the "Lesson Plans / Documents" page of this site.

GENERAL
- Times New Roman or Calibri (12 pt font size)
- Double-Spaced
- 1" Margins (all around)
- No spaces between paragraphs
- Indent at the beginning of every paragraph
- Title of essay is centered after heading and is not bold, italic, or underlined
- Page numbers should appear in the top right-hand corner with student's last name

HEADING (justified to the left)
- Name
- Teacher's Name
- Class Title
- Date

CITATIONS
Whenever a student uses a "quote" from a textual source, the author's last name and page number of the information (if available) should appear in parentheses.

Generally, most research is conducted online.  Here is how to cite and write a works cited entry from an internet source.

GENERIC:

Author(Last name/First name), “Title of Article”, When it was written, the web site’s name (or name of the organization that owns the site), When you visited the site, <the Web Address>.

With Author's Name...
Example:

Cave, Steve, “Beginners Skateboarders Buyers Guide for Kids and Children”, 2007, About.com, 12/06/07, <http://skateboard.about.com/od/boardmaintenance/a/BeginnersBoards.htm>

For your parenthetical citation, write: (Cave)

With NO Author's Name...
Example:

“Skateboarding Safety”. 2007. American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. 12/06/07<http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00273>

For your parenthetical citation, write: (Skateboarding Safety)
