Speech & Debate I am excited to have your son / daughter in my Speech & Debate class. The goal of this class is to train students to be able to compose and deliver effective and appropriate arguments and speeches. Students will learn to become more confident and self-assured in their public speaking. They will hone their skills of preparing intelligent and well thought-out verbal expression. In addition, students will learn to exhibit proper and respectful listening skills. Class exercises are designed with our students’ futures in mind: whether a student has interests in public relations, communications, and political science, or simply wants to be able to communicate with peers in any trade or career they may choose, this course will provide the groundwork for such achievement. Born in New Jersey, I actually went to high school in the small upstate New York town of Oswego. After graduating, I remained in Oswego to attend the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego where I received my double-major degree for English & Secondary Education. I have taught in a variety of private settings, including for the developmentally & mentally disabled, but officially started my public school teaching career in 2006 as an Eleventh Grade English teacher at Cactus Shadows High School, where I stayed for two years before joining the dynamic 7A team at the Wigwam Creek Middle School. The high school experience kept calling to me, and in 2009, I became an Owl. Sincerely, Greg Hill |
