AIMS Testing - Spring 2013

Spring testing is near and we are anticipating all Verrado students to successfully demonstrate their knowledge of the Arizona Academic Standards.  Pursuant to ARS 15-71 all schools are required to assess student learning using the AIMS test, a criterion referenced exam that is aligned with the Arizona State Standards and District Curriculum.  The results of this test give our district valuable information regarding the teaching and learning that is taking place and the level to which our students are progressing academically.

This spring, all sophomores (10th graders) will take the AIMS Writing, Reading, Math and Science tests.  Juniors (11th graders) and Seniors (12th graders) who have not yet passed the Writing, Reading or Math test will retest to meet state and district graduation requirements.  All Freshmen (9th graders) will take the Stanford 10.  The students will test on the following dates:

 

February 25, 2013 – AIMS Writing test – All Sophomores will test.  Also testing are Juniors/Seniors who have not Met the standards and Juniors who are attempting to Exceed (as indicated by prior registration).

 

February 26, 2013 – AIMS Reading test – All Sophomores will test.  Also testing are Juniors/Seniors who have not Met the standards and Juniors who are attempting to Exceed (as indicated by prior registration).

 

February 26, 2013 – ASVAB - All Juniors

 

April 9, 2013 – AIMS Math test – All Sophomores will test.  Also testing are Juniors/Seniors who have not Met the standards and Juniors who are attempting to Exceed (as indicated by prior registration).  See below for schedule.

 

April 9, 2013 – Stanford 10 – All Freshmen will test.  See below for schedule.

 

April 10, 2013 – AIMS Science Test – All Sophomores and Freshmen who took or are currently taking Biology.  See below for schedule.

All testing students who ride buses will be picked up at their regular time February 25th and 26th.  All non-testing students who ride buses will be picked up 3 hours and 15 minutes later than their scheduled pick-up time on February 25th and 26th. 

 

We encourage you to avoid medical and/or dentist and orthodontist appointments during test days.  Student attendance on these important test dates is critical to the academic success of our students.

Tuesday April 9th – AIMS Math for Sophomores

and Stanford 10 for Freshmen

 School starts at 8:15AM for test-takers.  For everyone else school starts at 12:10PM. All test takers will be picked up at their bus stop at the regular scheduled time. All non-test takers will be picked up 4 hours and 15 minutes later.

At 10:25, all Freshmen will report to the gym to participate in an assembly given by Youth4Youth.  Stanford10 test administrators and protectors will need to escort the Freshmen to the gym and remain in the gym for supervision.

We are having one lunch from 12:10PM – 12:40PM.  As other students arrive, they may eat lunch or a snack.  All other students may eat lunch when they arrive to school.  Bused students will have the option of eating lunch as soon as they arrive.

Wednesday, April 10th

AIMS Science Test and Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Walk

Testing begins at 8:15 for all students enrolled in Biology this year (someFreshman and Sophomores are enrolled in Biology).  There is no make up day.  Students who are not enrolled in Biology this year will not attend school on Wednesday, April 10th .

Two hours is allotted for the AIMS Science test, however school will not be dismissed until 12:25.  After testing, the AIMS Science testers will report to the Football Stadium where they will participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Walk sponsored by the VHS chapter of Health Occupations Students of America. AIMS test administrators and protectors will need to escort students to the football stadium and remain at the field for supervision. All proceeds will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Research. We are excited that our students will be participating in this community service effort.

A traditional school lunch will not be offered in the cafeteria.
