AFUHSD is committed to providing the best programs and services for our special education students.  Below are some of our new implementations:

READING:  All students  receive instruction in reading. Options are available based on student need.

READ 180: For students reading at the 3rd grade level and above.

System 44:  For students who read below the 3rd grade level.

Tumblebooks:  For our SCD students.

MATH:  SLD students receive math instruction from a highly qualified teacher.  Based on need, students may be placed in a co-teaching situation or a general inclusion setting.  In some cases students receive math instruction in a special education class.

SCD students receive math instruction with the innovative Above and Beyond , which is a manipulative based program using Digi-Blocks.  The Above and Beyond  program teaches students money skills and basic math living skills to help in their transition to independent living.
