Millennium High School Dual Enrollment 2010-2011 Dual Enrollment is a partnership between Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) and Millennium High School. This program allows lower division (100-200 level) courses to be taught at the high school during regular school hours. These courses are counted towards high school requirements, giving students the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits for the same courses.
Registration for dual enrollment courses occurs early in the semester. Teachers will provide students with forms that are required for registration. Please make sure you read all the information. When students enroll in a class, they become an EMCC student and the grade they earn will become part of their official college transcript. Students enrolling in English or math courses, are a sophomore (with no PSAT, PLAN, or high school AIMS score), or courses with an English or math prerequisites, must receive an appropriate score on the college placement exam. This exam is given at Millennium once a semester free of charge or students can go to EMCC to take the exam.
Tuition for EMCC courses is $40.00 per credit, plus a registration fee of 15.00 dollars. Registration for the next semester should take place in September for fall courses and February for spring. If you can't make the initial registration there is always a late registration, usually one week from original date for no additional charge. Registrations start at 7:00 am in the MHS library. You can pay by check or go to the bookstore to pay with an approved credit card. Students should come the morning of registration with a completed packet, copy of their state ID (birth certificate or drivers' license or permit), payment, and placement test scores if necessary. Checks should be written to Agua Fria Union High School District, or AFUHSD.
Upon completion of these courses, students can use the credits toward a degree at EMCC or transfer credits to other colleges or universities. It is important to know that out-of-state or private colleges and universities will not always accept these transfer credits. If your child is interested in an out-of -state or private college or university, it is best to contact the establishment directly to determine if they will accept the transfer grades. In state universities will accept most classes.
