Marti Eldean & Bryce Wright, English

About Ms. Eldean

  • This is my 21st year with sophomores who I find to be incredibly amusing.  GO SOPHOMORES!  Like the rest of us, they just want to be accepted and know that they belong.  I am a firm believer that all kids can achieve and succeed... it just takes a little motivation mixed in with a sprinkle of dedication and a teaspoon of creativity.

My mission is to create a classroom that is effective for all students, to provide students with an equal opportunity to learn in a culturally affirming and caring environment, and to provide a safe, group-based classroom that is conducive to the different learning styles.

About Mr. Wright

  • Hello and welcome to Desert Edge! As a new member of staff I look forward to working closely with students and parents alike to make this upcoming year the best it can be! I am entering my 4th year as an educator and first in the Agua Fria district. I am passionate about growth and learning and seek opportunities to do so daily. I am here to learn from students just as they may learn from me. My hope for the year is that students leave my classroom with a better understanding of their own abilities and the confidence to keep exploring who they are growing into. With the buy in of students and parents we will be successful in our mission this year.

  • SOPHOMORES RULE THE SCHOOL!

How lucky am I!  Sophomores are the best!  I love the new sophomore curriculum and am so excited to introduce it to your teenagers.  My goal is to make all of your children love literature and to understand that writing should not be feared.
I promise I won't make them read boring books or short stories.  I love cliff-hangers and have discovered that most students do, too.  They also buy into the stories that make them think or make inferences about the ending.  This year's focus is "Man's Inhumanity to Man." Because I was also a sociology teacher and social worker before becoming a teacher, I have experienced the importance of students being able to understand the world around them.
