Anthony Galto, Arts
Hello, my name is Anthony Galto. I was born and raised in Chicago and have been in Arizona for the last 12 years. I am a lifelong artist working in various mediums which include oils, acrylics, charcoal, and ink to name a few. My artistic style could be considered as figurative expressionism. I graduated from ASU, with a BA in art (Art Administration) and graduated GCU with a Masters in Education. Prior to joining DEHS I served as an arts commissioner for the city of Goodyear, and served as chairman for the Goodyear Arts and Culture Commission. After serving as chairman, I continued to work for the Arts and Culture department where I functioned alongside the arts and culture coordinator in implementing arts programs and all forms of artistic community outreach.
I am excited to be part of the DEHS team and look forward to engaging our student body in all forms of artistic expression. I envision our students working within our community to showcase their artistic talent, and will be coordinating the art club and encouraging our students to take leadership roles not only in the arts, but also within our student body. I will be teaching fundamentals of art, Drawing and Painting 1 and 2, and working alongside Mr. Williams in creating a vibrant arts department which includes the Desert Edge Conservatory.
In our spare time, my family and I love to go hiking and take trips to Sedona and Flag. We also love going to San Diego and spending time on the beach. My wife and I have a son who is in college, and a 5-year-old daughter. When not hiking, and traveling, you’ll most likely find me involved in the Phoenix art scene painting murals, volunteering, and showing kids the power of art.
