Title I Programs and Schools

What is Title I?

Title I, Part A is a federally funded program established under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and reauthorized through the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I provides additional resources to school districts and schools to help ensure that all students have access to a high-quality education and the support needed to meet Arizona’s academic standards.

Federal Title I funding is distributed to states and school districts based primarily on the number of students from economically disadvantaged households. School districts use these funds to provide supplemental academic programs, instructional support, resources, and services designed to increase student achievement and help close achievement and opportunity gaps.

Title I in the Agua Fria High School District

The Agua Fria High School District is committed to ensuring that every student has access to the resources, opportunities, and support needed to succeed in high school and prepare for college, career, and life.

Title I funding allows the District and its schools to provide additional academic support based on identified student needs. These funds may be used to support:

  • Supplemental academic instruction and intervention

  • Additional instructional staff and student support services

  • Academic materials, technology, and educational resources

  • Professional development for teachers and staff

  • Programs designed to increase student engagement and academic achievement

  • Parent and family engagement activities

  • College and career readiness opportunities

Title I programs are developed using student achievement data and other identified needs to ensure federal resources are used effectively and strategically to support student success.

Schoolwide and Targeted Assistance Programs

A Schoolwide Title I Program allows a school to use Title I funds to improve the overall educational program for all students while placing particular emphasis on students who are at risk of not meeting academic standards.

A Targeted Assistance Title I Program provides supplemental services specifically to students who have been identified as having the greatest academic need. Title I funds at targeted assistance schools are used to provide additional academic support beyond the services available through the school’s regular educational program.

Our Commitment to Students and Families

Agua Fria High School District recognizes parents and families as essential partners in student success. Title I schools provide meaningful opportunities for families to participate in their student’s education and contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Title I programs.

Through responsible stewardship of federal resources, the District is committed to ensuring that Title I funding supplements existing educational programs and provides additional opportunities that help students achieve academic success and prepare for their future.
