Paul Hoeprich, Career & Technical Education

  • I started teaching at Desert Edge High School as the Film and Video Teacher last year.  Although new to the Agua Fria District, I'm no stranger when it comes to teaching Film and Video content.  I hold a Bachelors in Electronic Media Production as well as a Masters in Education.

I spent 6 years as the Media Communications at Arcadia High School in the Scottsdale District and most recently, spent 5 years teaching in the heart of Silicon Valley at Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California. I'm happy to be back in Arizona, a place I've always fondly called “home.”

In addition to my teaching experience, I'm also a successful filmmaker and freelancer and like to bring my experience to the classroom.  I've worked on live news crews at NBC affiliates KNAZ-TV2 in Flagstaff and at KPNX-12 in Phoenix as well as on the crew for American Idol, and various films distributed on Netflix and other major outlets. I've also Produced and Directed over 20 award-winning short films and was named the 2010 AZ Filmmaker of the Year at the Phoenix Film Festival as well as named one of AZ Teen Magazine’s Hot 100 and a top 100 Creatives by the New Times.

In my freetime, I enjoy playing video and board games with my wife and son, snuggling with my dog Goose, cooking, and restoring vintage Vespa scooters from the 60’s and 70’s and attending scooter rallies around the southwest, as well as wrenching on my 1974 MG Midget.  I also like participating in film contests and working on freelance film projects.
