Elizabeth Tarrant, Reading Specialist

  • Dear Parents,

Thank you for visiting this site.  My name is Mrs. Tarrant and it is my pleasure to be working with your student this year.  I look forward to a very rewarding and productive school year in Reading class.  It is my goal to help your student improve his/her reading abilitity while developing a love of reading.

I have been teaching in the Agua Fria Union High School District for the past twenty one years.  This will be my seventh year at Desert Edge High School.  I obtained my BA in Secondary Education from Eastern Washington University. Go Eagles!!!

Read 180 is the reading program our school district has adopted to help students improve their reading skills.  The program is highly structured, intense, and interesting.  Research shows students will increase their reading levels after one year of Read 180.

During the first two weeks of school, your child should be receiving the course syllabus to share with you and two Google forms (parent/guardian form and student form).  Please read the syllabus and fill out the Parent Form to show that you understand the course expectations.  If you have any questions regarding the syllabus or course please feel free to ask them within the form or by contacting me via email.

I appreciate your time and support in helping your child succeed.  I also encourage you to sign up for ParentVUE so that you may see your child's grades from your home computer.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at (623) 932-7500 ext. 3148 or by e-mail, etarrant@aguafria.org,  if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year.

    Your partner in education,

     Mrs. Tarrant
