Rita Fisher, International Languages

  • ¡Bienvenidos a todos a mi clase de español!

I am beginning my 44th year of teaching.  This is my thirteenth year at Desert Edge.  I moved here from Indiana at age 5.  My education has all been done in Arizona starting with David Crockett Elementary progressing to East High and on to Arizona State University for a BA in Spanish with a teaching certificate and later an MA in Special Education in Learning Disablilties.  I taught 31 years at Tolleson High and then retired in 2006.  I started my new journey here at Desert Edge in 2008.  I am married and have two children, a girl and a boy.

I am looking forward to a very good and productive year.  My expectations are that ALL students pass my class, learn as much Spanish as they can and also along the way have some fun.  Those are reasonable expectations IF every student participates in class, does their homework and reviews frequently all the material covered daily. If homework is not specified on a regular basis, my expectation is that ALL students again review the material we have covered throughout the semester.  More review and practice helps everyone learn and do better on quizzes, tests, projects, etc.  Whenever possible the students should be practicing the target language in class with their classmates and teacher.
