Who Should Apply?
Classified employees who are dependable, open to growth, and interested in learning more about leadership with AFUHSD are encouraged to apply.
This program may be a good fit for employees who are interested in future leadership opportunities, career advancement, or learning how school and District departments operate.
Program Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- 2 years minimum in the District as of July 1, 2026
- Must be in good standing with no discipline or letters of direction issued in 2024, 2025, or 2026
- Preferred: Some exposure or experience in leadership as a classified employee
Examples of classified leadership experience may include serving as a lead, trainer, mentor, department support person, office manager, project lead, committee member, event coordinator, team representative, or taking on additional responsibilities that support a school site of District department.

Program Highlights

- Support for different levels of leadership readiness
Cadre Expectations
Participants selected for the Leadership Cadre Tier I program are expected to:
- Attend 6 sessions after school hours
- Participate in discussions, activities, and professional learning opportunities
- Complete session activities as assigned
- Commit to one District leadership event or activity each month
- Be open to feedback, growth, and leadership development
Meeting Dates and Information
All meetings will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Session Topics
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Determining whether leadership is a good fit for you
- Understanding classified leadership opportunities within the District
- Knowing when you are ready to apply for a leadership role
- Identifying roles that align with your strengths and interests
- Strengthening your leadership skills and overall readiness
- Preparing for the job search and interview process
- Understanding teamwork and how roles work together to support students
- Learning how classified leaders contribute to equitable outcomes
- Successfully transitioning into leadership within the District
- Managing workload and being a positive member of your team
