Attached you will see a letter from Superintendent Dr. Dennis Runyan in regards to safety and security updates district-wide. In addition to the items outlined in Dr. Runyan's letter, Verrado will be taking some additional measures, to include:
Closing the gates to the Academic Courtyard, this will no longer be a student entrance in the mornings starting January 7.
Students will continue to enter the building through the east and west cafeteria doors and the north entrance for bus riders. Doors will open at 7:30am for students. No students should be in the building prior to 7:30am unless they are with a staff member for tutoring or morning practice-supervised by the coach.
There will be additional staff members/administrators at student entrances to the building and at the bus loop. Students need to be prepared to show their ID upon request at any time while on campus. VHS admin and the district strongly suggest ID's visible for students. Staff will all have their ID's visible.
A School Safety Committee will be created to include 5 students, 5 parents and 5 staff members. More information about this committee and how to be a part of it will come out in January.
Thank you for your continued support. The safety of all students and staff are of the utmost importance to me. If you have questions please contact me. I wish you all a safe holiday.
