Hello, Verrado! Good luck to our wrestling team today and tomorrow at their tournament held here at Verrado. We hope that everyone has a relaxing and safe three day weekend.

 

No School - Monday, January 21

  • In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., the school and all offices will be closed.

 

10th & 11th Grade Registration for 2019/2010

  • Students have received their course selection sheets and began meeting with their counselors this week and will continue in their English classes next week to verify that selected courses meet graduation requirements as well as discussing their future educational and career plans.

  • Students are able to enter their course requests for next year online in StudentVue under the table labeled Course Request. When they meet with their counselor, they will confirm selections and make necessary changes. However, once they met with their counselor, the selections will be locked. Students will receive a print out of their selections prior to the end of the school year. At that time, they will be able to request changes via the print out that will be sent home for a parent signature.

  • For the next week, the tab will be open for all 10th and 11th grade students.

Incoming freshman and new student registration for 2019-2020

  • Enrollment packets are now online to register new students for next school year, including incoming 9th grade students. Please visit www.aguafria.org to find the registration packet.

  • Incoming 9th grade students need their enrollment packets submitted no later than Jan 25.

 

Open Enrollment

  • Open enrollment applications are available on the district website and the VHS website.

  • The deadline for applications to be submitted is January 20.

 

School Safety Committee

  • Verrado High School is looking for 5 students, 5 parents and 5 staff members to be a part of the Campus Safety Committee.

  • This committee will meet monthly at 4pm at Verrado High School.

  • If you are interested, please email Kristen Tiffany to indicate your interest ktiffany@aguafria.org. The first meeting will be on Monday February 4th.

 

Student Absences

  • If a student is going to be absent, parents need to call the attendance office within 24 hours of the absence.

 

Student IDs

  • As a reminder, Students must have their IDs with them at all times while on campus.

  • Bus riders, are required to show their IDs when getting off the bus at school in the mornings and when getting on the bus in the afternoons.

  • If a student has lost their ID, they can go to the bookstore before or after school or during lunches to purchase a new one for $2.

 

Yearbooks

  • SENIOR TRIBUTES/ADS - Are now on sale. Tributes can be purchased using the same link used when ordering the yearbook.

  • Yearbooks are NOW ON SALE!! From January 1- March, books will be $65.

The Viper Times - Student Run News Publication

  • Under the guidance of advisor Mr. Alden, Verrado Journalism students have been busy maintaining their student run news site that you will definitely want to check out:  Vipertimes.com

 

Juniors - ACT Test, February 9, 2019

  • Photo upload is due by February 1, 2019.

  • To check registration status, please log in to your ACT account. If your registration is complete, this is what you will see.  You can print your test ticket using the link on that page.

 

Counseling and Career Center Updates

  • Reminder, there are no schedule changes for the second semester.

  • Junior College Tour Trip #2 - U of A. Juniors registered for this trip will attend UofA on Thursday, January 24. Students need to arrive to the student parking lot at 6:45am. Students should be back on campus around 4:30pm.

  • Church of Litchfield Park Community Service Scholarship. Visit their website to get more information: www.churchatlitchfieldpark.org

  • Spring AP test registration deadline is 3/8/19. Payments will be accepted by the bookstore. VHS is paying $30 of each test, making the total per test $65 (Free/Reduced fee is $28). AP exams can be paid via tax credit. The bookstore will also set up a payment plan if needed.   • The Claremont Colleges--Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, Pomona, and Scripps Colleges--are hosting a reception in the Phoenix area for all prospective students, and families at 4:30 pm on Sunday, January 27 at Phoenix Country Day School in Paradise Valley.  Register by clicking here.
