    Medical absences must have a doctor's note submitted to the attendance office when the student returns to school.

      

    Tardy Policy

    A student shall be considered tardy if the student is not in their seat when the bell rings.

    • Steps to follow when students are tardy to 1st hour:
      • Students arriving on campus after the tardy bell rings for 1st hour at 7:15 AM must report to the Attendance Office to check-in.
      • A late arrival to school may be verified with a parent/guardian call 623-932-7200(within 24 hours), note, or in-person through the Attendance Office.
    • All verified and excused tardies will be limited to five per semester. All others will be considered unverified.  Five unverified tardies equals one unexcused absence and will count towards the 90% attendance requirement.
    • Consequences for unverified tardies
      • 3rd/4th/5th- - Overdrive (OverDrive is a two (2) hour after school detention.)
      • 6th+  Student referral and conference with their administrator
    • A student that arrives more than 10 minutes late to class will automatically be considered tardy. A student that arrives more than 15 minutes late to class will be marked absent and will be considered an unexcused absence.

     A student is NOT EXCUSED  in the following situations
    •  Failure to attend school without proper authorization
    • Leaving school without signing out through the attendance office
    • No parental notification given to the school for the student's absence
    • Unauthorized absence from a class
    • Missing the school bus.

    Attendance Office Procedures

    •  On the day of the absence, a parent/ legal guardian must notify the school's attendance office.  Notes from parent/ guardian will also be accepted, but must be presented to the attendance office.
    • * Students who have 10 consecutive days of absences in all classes WILL BE DROPPED from school for non-attendance.
    • Students who have permission to leave campus during the school day MUST SIGN OUT THROUGH ATTENDANCE before leaving.
    • The attendance office will often take up to 10 days to enter all school business (SB) activities.
