Student Checkout

  • If you need to sign your student out early, phone calls will no longer be accepted.  Please email dehsattendance@aguafria.org and include the following information: 

    • Student ID Number
    • Student Full Name
    • Reason for Early Checkout
    • A valid copy of your Driver's License/State Issued Identification.

     

Absences

  • On the day of the absence, a parent/ legal guardian must notify the school's attendance office by phone at 623-932-7500 ext 3011 or 3012, or email at dehsattendance@aguafria.org

    Please include the following information when leaving a message regarding attendance:

    • Student's 5-digit ID number
    • Student's Full Name
    • Parent/Guardian's name
    • Parent/Guardian's phone number
    • Reason for absence

    Please email absences within 24 hours. After 24 hours, the absence can no longer be excused.

    Notes from parent/ guardian will also be accepted but must be presented to the attendance office BEFORE THE 1st SCHEDULED CLASS.

    Medical absences must have a doctor's note submitted to the attendance office in person or via email within 24 hours of the student's return to school.

    Students who have 10 consecutive days of absences in all classes WILL BE DROPPED from school for non-attendance.

    The attendance office will often take up to 10 days to enter all school business (SB) activities.

    UNEXCUSED ABSENCES:
    A student is NOT EXCUSED in the following situations:

    • Failure to attend school without proper authorization
    • Leaving school without signing out through the attendance office. Students with permission to leave campus during the school day MUST SIGN OUT THROUGH ATTENDANCE before leaving.
    • No parental notification was given to the school for the student's absence
    • Unauthorized absence from a class
    • Missing the school bus.

Tardies

  • Phone calls are no longer necessary to excuse tardies.  

    • Students arriving on campus after 8:15 AM will check in at Attendance.
    • Students are only allowed five tardies per semester.
    • Once five have been reached, Sweep may be assigned per school policy.
    • To get students to class as soon as possible, students must scan their Student ID in the Attendance Office.

    TARDY PROCEDURES:

    • Attendance is taken at the start of every class.
    • If a student is late to class in the first 5 minutes of class teachers will mark them TARDY.
    •  If a student arrives to class without a pass from attendance, the student will remain marked as absent for the period. 
    • A student is considered absent if they miss 15 minutes or more of the classroom period.

    TARDY CONSEQUENCES:

    Tardy for 1st is marked by attendance

     

     

    For periods 2-6:

     

    • Tardy 1-4: The teacher has a conversation with the student and parents.

       

    • Tardy 5: After School Detention is assigned.

       

    • Tardy 6-9: Teacher has a conversation with student and parents. Another ASD can be assigned.

       

    • Tardy 10: Student referral to the office is written.

     

    Any tardy beyond 10 will be monitored and addressed by the Administration
