Capstone Project

  • What is a Capstone? The Capstone Project is a process in which students pursue independent research on a question or problem of their choice, engage with the scholarly debates in the relevant disciplines, and - with the guidance of a faculty mentor - produce a substantial project that reflects deep understanding. 
     
    By completing the Capstone Project the Conservatory Student will be recognized by Certificate during Honors Night.

Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency

  • History and Background for the Diploma Seal

    How students can complete and become a recipient of the Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency:
         All applications are due by November 3, 2023.   

         All mandatory documents (Capstone Documentation, 80 Extracurricular Hours Sheet, and Reflection) are due by March 29, 2024.

    Requirements

    For an Arizona student to qualify for the seal, they must complete a Seal of Arts Proficiency Pathway and successfully graduate from an Arizona district public or charter school. The pathway is designed to celebrate students who complete a rigorous, standards-based, and high-quality arts education course of study.

    To qualify for the Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency, a student will complete:

    1. A final GPA of 3.0 or 4.0 in each qualifying arts/career and technical education (CTE) course.

    2. 4 minimum credit requirements in one of the following ways:

      1. A minimum of 4 credits in one artistic discipline: (dance, music, theatre, visual arts or media arts)

                        OR

    1. 3 credits in one artistic discipline, and 1 qualifying creative industries CTE credit or separate artistic discipline.

                        OR

    1. 2 credits in one artistic discipline, and 2 credits in a qualifying creative industries CTE class or a separate artistic discipline.

    3. 80 hours of arts-related extracurricular activities documented on log sheet
