The DP Curriculum is made up of six subject groups (Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals, and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts) and the DP Core, comprising Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS), and the Extended Essay (EE). Through the Diploma Core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research, and lead a project that often involves community service. At MHS, students have the option to participate as Diploma or Course candidates. Diploma candidates are required to take six IB classes in at least five different academic areas plus complete the DP Core; whereas Course candidates select one or more IB classes with the DP Core being optional.
