About the English Learner Program
If students receive composite scores that are below the Proficient Level on the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) state assessment, we place them in the Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) program.
The Structured English Immersion (SEI) program is designed to promote student success in school by providing instruction in the development of listening, speaking, vocabulary, reading, writing skills, and grammar in the English language. To ensure that all students in the program learn English as quickly as possible, all SEI instruction in the Agua Fria High School District is taught in English.
Parents play a key role in their children’s education. We inform parents of all available instructional services and contact them when we determine a need for their student’s successful academic achievement.
The English Acquisition Program understands that success is driven by teamwork. To that end, our staff is committed to building relationships between program staff, teachers, students, parents, and the communities we serve. As a team, we will help students achieve English proficiency, graduate from high school, and prepare them by creating choices, crafting character, and cultivating community.
All Agua Fria High School District school schools operate the SEI Program under the supervision of certified instructors holding endorsements in SEI, ESL and/or Bilingual Education from the Arizona Department of Education.
