The incoming class of 2028 will participate in the “Freshman Experience.” This year-long course at Agua Fria, Canyon View, Desert Edge, Millennium, and Verrado high schools is a pathway for students to identify their career aspirations and post-high school goals. During the Freshman Experience, students will choose an academy at their high school that best aligns with their college, trade school, workforce, or military ambitions.
As part of the Freshman Experience, our dedicated educators will help students discover their own talents, passions and career goals. Students will also gain insight to the educational or credential requirements for their college and/or career endeavors.
The Freshman Experience helps students develop the skills associated with our Portrait of a Graduate (POG). As part of this, they’ll begin building a portfolio that showcases their abilities and exemplifies their understanding of the POG. To learn more about POG, visit www.Aguafria.org/POG
Through partnerships with local businesses, the Freshman Experience connects classroom lessons with the real world. Throughout the year, students will also learn from captivating guest speakers and be inspired at our career, college, and military exploration event.
Freshman career exploration event: Students will be inspired to discover their pathway at our career, college, and military exploration event. Students will connect with industry professionals to gain career awareness and a deeper understanding of various industries.
It is a foundational part of the Agua Fria High School District’s vision for every student to explore enrollment, enlistment, and employment. We have partnered with post-secondary institutions to offer every student the opportunity to visit a college campus virtually or by field trip.
